DNA – Did Not Anticipate takes you on a wild ride as the author discovers the surprise his DNA test reveals and how he ultimately comes to terms with the reality that his beloved father is not his biological father. Osborne’s candor and humor make situations that are truly tragic interesting and palatable for the reader.
I felt equal parts sympathy, awe, admiration, and envy (yes, envy!) for Steve. He has overcome much and found his family—if not of origin, then of choosing and his making. I feel like he has truly made something of himself regardless of his origin and background, and he is brave to work through this hard reality.
I read it practically in one sitting, eager to learn how it all unfolded. It’s a riveting story of acceptance, growth, messy relationships, and love. The reader enjoys getting to know the writer’s personality, humor, strengths, and weaknesses along the way.
Long after you finish, it will make you ponder the power of genetics, fate, love, and what really makes a family.
